The Regional System of District & School Support – Region 4 Presents: All About Desmos and Other Amazing Tools for STEM Instruction June 21st at the San Mateo County Office of Education  Desmos built the best-in-class HTML5 graphing calculator that millions of students around the world use for free everyday. That calculator earns stellar reviews in app stores and on Twitter. Desmos also creates activities to help students use this powerful tool to experience all the curiosity, beauty, and sense that math has to offer. Workshop description: This is a "bring your own device" event. Using a laptop during this event will provide the best experience for participants.  Desmos is next-level instruction that can be used in your classroom tomorrow! Desmos is an instructional tool that is instantly effective in math, science and STEM classrooms. Using a laptop during this event will provide the best experience for participants.    Facilitator: John Stevens         Facilitator: Matt Vaudrey   John Stevens is an educational technology coach for Chaffey Joint Union High School District who has also taught high school Geometry, Algebra 1, middle school Math, Service Learning, and Robotics, Engineering, and Design since 2006. He has served as the go-to guy for trying new, crazy, and often untested ideas to see how well they will work. John co-founded and moderates #CAedchat, the weekly teacher Twitter chat for the state of California. He also is the co-founder and organizer of EdCamp Palm Springs, the first in the area. In his free time that doesn’t exist, he runs a site called Would You Rather? which is dedicated to getting students talking about math. He is an author of Flipping 2.0, a resource that helps teachers take the flipped classroom to the next level. During recent summers, John has had the honor of presenting at CUE Rockstar events in California and various technology and math conferences. John blogs at fishing4tech.com and createdappsinclass.com. His latest adventure has led him into the world of 3D-printing, designing lesson plans and curricula forAirWolf3D. Recently, his school tagged him to pilot a 1:1 iPad program for intervention students. With no curriculum, Matt sought ways to make math meaningful for his students using free technologies available. Matt blogs at MrVaudrey.com, connects with educators across the world on Twitter, and presents at conferences throughout California.
